About Us
At Oakhill Kindergarten, we believe that children learn through play. Children learn best when their play is meaningful, based on their own interests and focused on the ‘here and now’. Play gives children the opportunity to explore ideas, their identity and physical self, relationships with others and the world we live in. Children benefit from a rich, inclusive learning environment where they are encouraged to develop a sense of belonging, security and ownership in their surroundings.
We work and program according to the ‘Belonging, Being, Becoming’ Australian National Learning and Development Framework and we also utilise the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development framework. Each child’s ideas, knowledge, culture, abilities and interests form the foundation of our program, as well as input from parents and educators.
As educators, we aim to facilitate and extend the children’s learning and provide a kindergarten program that is meaningful, diverse, holistic, vibrant and child centred. As professionals, we believe in continuous improvement through regular professional development as well as reflection and evaluation of our work. We believe that it is essential to work in partnership with families, as they are the most significant people in children’s lives. We value the knowledge they bring and embrace their contribution and participation in our program and planning.
